FAQs
Which treatment should I book?

Select the treatment you believe is best for you. On the day of your appointment, we will do a consultation to discuss your needs, goals, and take your initial tooth shade. We will then decide which treatment is right for you.

We recommend clients to come in 2 weeks after their braces have been removed.

Whitening strips/trays only whiten surface stains. Professional teeth whitening will whiten 3 layers deep. In this process, the teeth whitening gel absorbs into the pores of your teeth to then lift the stains. Therefore, professional teeth whitening is more effective than whitening strips. Additionally, most whitening strips tend to cause more sensitivity than professional whitening as the gums are not protected.

Yes, professional teeth whitening can remove surface stains from dental work. However, it cannot whiten more than the original shade of the dental work. We can color match and make sure your smile looks more even in shade.

Although there are no studies suggesting that teeth whitening is unsafe for pregnant/nursing women, there are no studies suggesting otherwise. Therefore, for your safety and the safety of your baby, we recommend waiting until after your pregnancy/nursing period to undergo a professional teeth whitening treatment.

On average, results can last 3 to 12 months. This will depend on a variety of factors including but not limited to: enamel formation, oral hygiene, frequency of dental cleanings, diet/lifestyle and genetics. Touch-up/maintenance treatments are recommended every 3 to 6 months for 30 minutes and every 6 to 12 months for 60 minutes.

You will see instant results!

Although not very common, teeth whitening may cause mild sensitivity that can last approximately 24 to 48 hours. If you’re nervous about sensitivity occurring you may take an over the counter pain reliever before your appointment. Teeth whitening causes temporary tooth dehydration which can cause tooth sensitivity, therefore, we recommend staying hydrated and drinking plenty of water for at least 24 hours before your appointment. After your treatment, it’s ideal to continue drinking room temperature water. A remineralization treatment will help speed up the hydration process and help prevent/combat sensitivity. This remineralization gel is applied as a complementary treatment to clients who book the Glowing White treatment. You will also be given a remineralization gel to take for at home application.

Yes, teenagers ages 14 – 17 years old can do this treatment. They must be accompanied by a parent/guardian during the treatment and consent forms will be completed and signed by the parent/guardian.

Since the whitening treatment will be whitening 3 layers deep into the enamel, you can improve up to 10 shades whiter in one session. However, every person has a natural stopping point to the shade of their teeth. This means that genetically, each of us has a certain shade we cannot surpass. Please keep this in mind. We cannot guarantee results, and many different things play a role when it comes to the staining of your teeth.

Potential clients with enamel erosion/defects, plaque/tartar build-up or gingivitis are not the best candidates for teeth whitening. Therefore, we recommend having these conditions treated by your dentist before receiving a whitening treatment.
